Real Texas Country, Played the Old Way
Pull up a chair, pour a glass, and let the music carry you down a Hill Country back road.
Matthew Underwood plays traditional Texas country the way it was meant to be played: honest, heartfelt, and rooted in the Hill Country he calls home. He grew up just a mile from Luckenbach, where on a good evening the music drifts in on the breeze. Among those live oaks, limestone hills, and winding back roads, he has spent years shaping a sound that feels right at home on a winery patio or a dance hall stage.
At the heart of that sound is his Martin D-28, a guitar he loves for its deep, warm, ringing tone. Matthew draws his greatest inspiration from George Strait and the timeless Texas country tradition he represents. When Matthew picks up his guitar, he’s not chasing a trend, he’s carrying on a tradition.
He brings his own professional sound system to every show, so wherever there is a crowd and a Hill Country sunset, Matthew is ready to play.

Some songs were made to be heard under a big Texas sky.

Texas country music was raised in Hill Country dance halls, where fiddles and steel guitars carried across wooden floors and honest songs told the truth about work, love, and home. Matthew carries that tradition forward with a deep respect for the music that came before him: simple melodies, real stories, and a sound that feels like Saturday night in a small Texas town.
